What a better way to celebrate the holidays than some time out on the water with good friends. Early Christmas morning, Mike Tran, George and Carlos Bejar, and I hit one of the local lakes.

It was a great outing with many solid and healthy fish caught by everybody. During a quick morning session, the three of us caught five each, and Mike ended with seven, as well as the big fish, going about 5.5 lbs. Most fish for us were caught on lipless crankbaits but Mike managed to pick off a couple on the BBZ-1 Rat 30 in shad color, which is impressive with both the air and the water temperature being quite low. All baits were effective strictly with a slow and steady retrieve, and the rat got hit both times on the pause.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas anda very happy holiday!

Check back in for a trout report before the new year!
