Quick bay report from San Diego. Jeff Cox, Brad Butler and I, fished San Diego Bay the other day in solid pre-frontal conditions. We had the intentions of making bait and drifting for Halibut, but with a complete lack of wind, that was very difficult to do. This Weeks Shout Out Sunday: Ron Thompson, Mr. Hardcore!

The setting is late fall at Cherokee Lake, but this message is inconsequential to the location or time of year.

With bass fishing in December usually slowing down, one usually doesn't have high expectations. Yet as dedicated bass anglers, we continue to put in the time, waiting for that one bite that will make all of the countless hours worth it.

The camera is always ready for a friend in need.

With the exception of the crankbait, perhaps no other reaction bait has stood the test of time more so than the spinnerbait. Originally invented in 1951 and first manufactured in St. Louis, Missouri, the spinnerbait can come in handy in a myriad of angling situations, quite literally anywhere in the world I have fished so far. Above all, the spinnerbait is an innovation that is ahead of its time and possibly one of the best multispecies reaction bait out there.

With the weather finally starting to cool down, trout season is now upon us and in full swing. Multiple lakes have already stocked thousands of pounds of rainbow trout from various hatcheries. Check out Stan Kaplun and friends as they do a little trout catching 101.
