Watching someone on TV fishing is one thing, but staying at their house for a week and fishing every day from dawn to dusk is another. I am one very lucky guy to have been able to share the boat with one of the greatest fishermen....ever. This weeks "Shout Out" goes to my good friend Roland Martin.

If you ever get the chance to fish a tournament with Roland Martin, take it! After filming a SPRO BBZ-1 Rat 50 show with Roland in Florida in Feb. (Now Playing On Fishing With Roland Martin, Check Times and Listings) We where sitting in a parking lot and two fellow Mercury Pro's asked if we wanted to fish against them for a new BBZ-1 Rat. Did we win? you have to watch to find out. 

BBZ -1 RAT Update: Yes they work very well in FL. Filming the Roland Martin show today and whacked some really good ones. Weather has not been the best here with north winds and water temp in low to mid 60s. Local tournament at the Big O was won with a low 20 pound bag yesterday but weather was warming today with a south wind and the top water bite started to pick up with Mr. Rat. This bait is flat out going to crush them when the water hits mid 70s and up. By the way, Roland Martin at age 75 is FLAT OUT INCREDIBLE! More drive and passion than most guys half his age. Up every morning at 4 am and doesn't put the rod down until.the sun sets.

Finally got to fish with Roland Martin a few years back to show him some basic techniques on how to fish swimbaits of all sizes. Had a great day on the water and we caught some big fish while we were at it.
