Breaking News 12/9/2016: Castaic Lake and Pyramid Lake (CA) Considered Infested With Quagga Mussel

Things are about to change but Castaic Lake and Pyramid Lake are working hard to find a solution for boaters.

areas so far with invasive mussels

Note: Both Castaic and Pyramid will have you do a mandatory cleaning of your vessel before LEAVING these lakes.

OK, Here is the latest news. After fishing the NBW tournament trail yesterday at Castaic Lake we where informed that the bands that they use now to lock down your boats are no longer good. Reason why is they are for lakes the are not infested with Quaggas. Both Castaic and Pyramid are working now to get proper tags to replace the older ones that they can not use now.

While leaving the lakes, all boats are inspected!  Before you head out make sure you are clean and dry! They will inspect your boat and then sign you off with a "WATERCRAFT INSPECTION REPORT" just like the one you see below.

I was informed that if I return to the lake within a week, you will only have to show them this paperwork to get back on the water. As they receive the new lock down tags things should be back to normal for the people that fish these two lakes. BUT... if you go to another lake that does not have Quagga Mussels you will have a 7 Day Quarantine before launching there.
