Summer Time Flies: John Blake Riddle Thinks Outside The Box For this Impressive Bass!

John Blake Riddle: Bill,  I had to send you this photo and quick story. I was fishing recently in a small pond close to my house and I noticed "Soft Structure" (shadows from a tree), the same thing you talk about over on theBBZ.com. After looking at the shadow I started to notice a bunch of bream pushed up against the roots of the tree and then looked out a little and There She Was! The big fish was using the shadows as a funnel. With dead calm conditions and thinking outside the box I grabbed my ultra light spinning rod with 4# test and a Phat Fly that you have made and went to work. With dead calm conditions I worked the float in fly system up into the funnel and within seconds the fight was on. This is a very big fish from my neck of the woods and to think I caught her on a system most guys would only ever think about using in the dead of winter. - John Blake Riddle-
